We worked with a large multinational client to help with their immigration processes for all GCC countries, particularly Saudi Arabia. The focus was to ensure they could hire the required level of foreign experts to ensure their projects could be completed on schedule. We assisted with ensuring that the Saudisations obligations were met and the company remained compliant with local labour regulations at all times.
Our client a large multinational company needed to transfer several expat employees to Belgium but the delays in processing times and lack of understanding of the client's project created challenges for the client. We assisted in expediting this process by liaising with local government, presenting our business case and achieving the desired outcome for the client within days. This resulted in the client being able to complete and deliver on their own service contracts quickly and efficiently placing them ahead of their competitors.
Our client was involved in a joint venture with a Turkish subcontractor. They required a large team of experts to be deployed to work for up to two years on the project. Due to the restrictions in obtaining work permits for this particular sector employee, the client struggled with the work permit process and started using the business visitor route creating risk to the employees and their business. We were successfully able to provide a more strategic solution to the client to manage this project without disruption or delays
We advised on a complex breach of the immigration rules whereby an assignee had overstayed a period of 2 days whilst travelling on a business visitor visa to Kuala Lumpur. This person was stopped at the point of exiting the country and threatened with a fine and detention. The employing entity were also at risk of being fined for allowing their employee to spend lengthy periods in the country without a valid work permit. We intervened and engaged with the immigration authorities thereby managing an outcome that favoured our client. This was a challenging matter but with the right set of negotiation skills and in depth knowledge of the local laws, we were able to avoid penalties and implications for the client.
